An openwork frame is carved from ivory, previously partially gilded and trimmed with green moire silk. The frame is made of molded and gilded wood with an image of a Chinese pagoda surrounded by columns topped with vases with flowers. The thermometer contains the inscription / Salon de Réomur / made by Massot (? / embankment (... ) N ° 34, with an illegible inscription in black in the lower right corner, with a handwritten inscription on the back: "[...Reaumur / 1683-1757 / [ ... ] / this thermometer / after [ .../at the bott comes from "Collection Marie-Antoinette"
